Looking at Coventry temperature trends since 1895, recent warming trends are much in evidence since the mid-twentieth century, though that was a period of notable cooling itself, as evidenced by the statistics below.
What this highlights is that our climate is ever changing, whether warming or cooling; only time will tell when this recent spell of warming will end - after all, we are well past the mid-point of this current inter-glacial, with the planet less than 10,000 years away from the next Ice Age! In fact, it is now overdue, and would be our 20th ice age in the past 1.6 million years!
